Lewis Raven Wallace is an independent journalist based in Durham, North Carolina, and a contributing editor at Scalawag Magazine. He previously worked in public radio, and is a long-time activist engaged in prison issues, racial justice and queer and trans liberation. Lewis's award-winning journalism focuses on the voices of people who are geographically, economically and politically marginalized. His book and podcast, The View from Somewhere, focus on undoing the myth of objectivity in journalism and uplifting the stories of marginalized journalists who have challenged and changed how journalism is done. He is white and transgender, and was born and raised in the Midwest with deep roots in the South.
