Kenyatta A.C. Hinkle is an interdisciplinary visual artist, writer and performer. Her artwork and performances of experimental texts have been reviewed by the LA Times, Artforum, The Huffington Post and The New York Times. Her writing has appeared in Not That But This, Obsidian Journal, and Among Margins: Critical & Lyrical Writing on Aesthetics. She is the author of an artist book Kentifrications: Convergent Truth(s) & Realities published by Occidental College and Sming Sming Books. SIR is her first book of poetry published by Litmus Press. Hinkle is currently the Assistant Professor of Painting at UC Berkeley’s Department of Art Practice.

Writing Now Reading Series

Purvi Shah inspires change as a writer and consultant on gender, racial & economic equity. During the 10th anniversary of 9/11, she directed Together We Are New York, a community-based poetry project highlighting Asian American voices. For her leadership fighting violence against women, she won the inaugural SONY South Asian Social Service Excellence Award. Terrain Tracks, her debut poetry collection on migration and belonging, won the Many Voices Project prize. Her new book, Miracle Marks, explores women, the sacred, and gender & racial equity.
