The MFA Creative Writing Program at CalArts is excited to announce Experiments in Dissonance: A Symposium of Interdisciplinary Writing, April 9-10, 2021.

This symposium centers research, creative process, and practice from graduate students in our uniquely interdisciplinary MFA in Creative Writing, introducing sharp new ideas and fresh energies to the expanded field of writing alongside the other arts.

The symposium spans two days, featuring a range of readings, presentations, performance, and hybrids thereof, from "Transpoetics: The lyricism of transmasculine vocalization" and "[de]cypher" to "More Rupture Than Suture" and "Latinxperimentando." Check out the fantastic preliminary lineup here.

We are also thrilled to present Douglas Kearney's 2021 Bagley Wright Lecture, “You Better Hush: Blacktracking a Visual Poetics,” as keynote, PLUS "Form/Deform/Reform: A Conversation with Lillian-Yvonne Bertram and Michael Leong!"
